At Inspirations documentation acts as a process that enhances staff reflection and the children’s learning process. There is a repeating cycle of observing, collecting, interpreting and reflecting that guides us to focus on exactly how and what the children’s interests are and how they are learning it.
First we listen, we notice interests that can come from the environment, home or a provocation. Then we write down the children’s voices and we take photos to guide our next steps. By displaying the children’s words, drawings and photos on our walls they become surrounded by their own ideas. They see that their efforts and interests are valuable and that there is a process; a path of discovery led entirely by their curiosity.
