Using practical skills with children is a great way to help children develop confidence, independence, and get them out into nature. However, using tools, fires and other practical skills requires the leader to fully understand not just how to use these skills themselves but how to teach them safely to children.

If you are a Scout leader, youth group worker or outdoor educator, you will understand the importance of keeping your skills up to date, and making sure the correct risk assessments and policies are in place.
